“I’m a common-looking person, when I walk by, I do not draw a second glance !!” :Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Boy!! That sure has changed and HOW??!! His understated portrayals of terrorists, weirdos and oddballs have turned this actor into one of Bollywood’s finest character actors. Nawazuddin Siddiqui became a household name after gaining recognition for his superlative performances in movies like Kahaani, Gangs of Wasseypur part 1 and 2 and Talaash.
What is it that after spending more than 12 yrs in the film industry, the man is finally getting his dues now? What actually worked in his favour? Is it the hard work or the luck or a combination of both? Or is it the conventional belief that non-good looking people are better actors than the others (mind you, I’m talking about actors here and not STARS!!). In my opinion, in a country like India the sympathy vote also counts (From Budhana, a small town in Uttar Pradesh, he grew up amongst nine siblings!!). I think he is a sour winner, one who isn’t overwhelmed by being a part of the film industry..and who doesn’t feel dwarfed by the magnitude of it all. He’s dispassionate to say the least. He’s here for the love of films and the success or failure of his films doesn’t undermine that love..and I guess that’s what makes him stick! This man personifies the tagline “It’s your life, make it LARGE!!”
WRITER’S TAKE: Watch out as this ordinary star’s twinkle turns into mighty glaring rays!!!
