A bucket list.
This term ‘bucket list’ was originated from the 2007 film ‘Bucket List’ starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. Although till yet, the origin of this term is undetermined, it is said to come from the phrase ‘kick the bucket’ which mean, well, to die. The bucket list is a list of the things a person wants to do, before they die. The idea of a bucket list has been entertained in many movies such as,
But, my point is not the definition of bucket lists, but how important they can be.
I feel that every person should make a bucket list and they should keep either crossing our or adding things to do in that list, according to their liking.
I believe that this list is a sort of motivational push that people need to fulfill their goals. The fact is, the thing does not have to be something, it can be a very small action, as small as, doing something nice for a stranger or buying that book that you’ve been eyeing for some time. It can be impulsive or it can be well thought out.
That is the beauty of a bucket list, that you can put in it whatever you want, no matter how inconsequential or small it might seem, it doesn’t matter.
Making a bucket list is something every person should do, as in, one of the must do’s in your life.
Somehow, by making this list, you are putting it down in writing, and when you put something down in writing you are acknowledging it and when you acknowledge it you are going to work towards completing.
And the truth is, you don’t have be dying of some fatal disease to make one, unlike what they show in movies or shows, you can just take a pen and paper and write down what ever you might want to do in life.
There is something freeing about writing a bucket list, somewhere you can write the most inconsequential and childish of stuff, maybe you saw something in a movie, or it might be something completely original, it doesn’t matter, you can write it down, and maybe someday you might have a chance to complete some of those goals.
As for the rest of them, you can maybe consciously try and work toward achieving them, this list can be a huge boost, reading it, those goals, can sometimes open new avenues for you that you never even thought of before.
So, why don’t you go, take a pen and paper, and write down your own bucket list, and don’t worry about being stupid, or thinking that such a thing could never be done, it doesn’t matter, if you want to do it, then write it down and who knows maybe someday you might do it also!
P.s. one of the things on my bucket list, is to get in a car/auto and yell “follow that car!!!!”
