Hello, dear salesmen!
Sorry for the rather rude introduction. But you see, all of us in this world are salesmen. We are constantly selling various things to the world: our ideas, our thoughts, our opinions, our dreams, our products, our services and even (when it comes to job interviews) ourselves.
The best salesmen can achieve the miracles that the remaining 99% of us can only dream of. Steve Jobs did it and so did Walt Disney. So now that you understand the power of good salesmanship, let’s see what some of the most familiar salesmen, the big companies are doing to sell their ideas to the world.
Change is the only constant in the world of business. With market trends and consumer buying patterns changing faster than ever, businesses need to adapt quickly in order to survive in an ever-changing environment. And in order to survive and rise above the competition, businesses need to be innovative. They need to secure their places in the hearts of their target customers. And that’s why so many companies spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on innovative TV commercials. Indeed, competition can bring out the creative genius in you.
Let’s take a close look at some of the most innovative TV commercials that left indelible marks in the minds of viewers.
Hilltop (Coca Cola)
The “Hilltop” ad which featured the song “I want to buy the world a coke” is said to be the greatest TV commercials ever created. Young men and women from all over the world were assembled on top of a hill in Manziana, Italy. In the chorus, they sang the song which was centered on Coca Cola’s new slogan “It’s the real thing.” What the song communicates is the idea of universal connectedness over a bottle of coke.
Sponsors of Tomorrow (Intel)
In spite of being a leader in technology, Intel uses humor in its commercials to appeal to a wide audience. Geeky humour is woven into the fabric of all Intel Commercials which succinctly describe how their work is different from the rest. Intel celebrates geekdom and takes it to an all new level. Here’s Intel, the sponsors of tomorrow.
Risk Everything (Nike)
Arguably the best marketing company in the world, Nike produces great TV commercials that resonate with the youth. Nike never boasts about the quality, design or technology of its products. Nike is about winning. It celebrates athletes and great athletics. Nike’s commercials feature some of the biggest names from across the world of sports. And that’s why it has a cult following among the youth.
Impossible is Nothing (Adidas)
But don’t count out Adidas, Nike’s biggest competitor. How many of us have not heard of their slogan, “Impossible is Nothing”? Watch NBA stars telling you this in an Adidas commercial.
Think Different (Apple)
Perhaps the Greatest Marketer of all time, Steve Jobs gave birth to the revolution that was Apple. The Apple commercial titled ‘The Crazy Ones’ seems to be talking about the man himself.
The Walk (Johnnie Walker)
This Commercial starring Scottish actor Robert Carlyle narrates the story of Johnnie Walker, “the man who walked around the world”. It depicts how a young man with “a glint in his eye, a fire in his belly and a spring in his step perhaps” made a fortune by brewing the finest spirit. It’s an inspirational story meant to attract consumers to the brand. How about that? An alcoholic beverage that is meant to inspire!

Sunday Ho Ya Monday
To end with a desi touch, here’s the TV commercial that this generation will never forget. NECC showed how regular egg consumption could be promoted using their evergreen “Sunday ho ya Monday, Roz khao Ande” campaign
