That’s right. The future is here. Gadgets and technology that were beyond our very imagination a few years ago are now close to becoming a reality. Tech companies from across the world are leading this era, and rightfully so. Here are just a few coming your way soon.
1. Project Loon
Project Loon is a research and development project being developed by Google X with the mission of providing Internet access to rural and remote areas. The project uses high-altitude balloons placed in the stratosphere at an altitude of about 32 km (20 mi) to create an aerial wireless network with up to 3G-like speeds.
It was named Project Loon, since Google itself found the very idea of providing internet access to the remaining 5 billion population unprecedented and “crazy.”
2. Project Ara
Project Ara is the codename for an initiative that aims to develop an open hardware platform for creating highly modular smartphones. The platform will include a structural frame or endoskeleton that holds smartphone modules of the owner’s choice, such as a display, camera or an extra battery.
This means that now, you don’t need to buy a phone for its camera, or its high speed processing, you can simply purchase a camera module you like and add it to your phone.
3. Project Soli
Project Soli is using radar to enable new types of touchless interactions — one where the human hand becomes a natural, intuitive interface for our devices. The Soli sensor can track sub-millimeter motions at high speed and accuracy. It fits onto a chip, can be produced at scale, and can be used inside even small wearable devices. It plans to break the tension between the ever-shrinking screen sizes used in wearables, as well as other digital devices, and our ability to interact with them. That my friends, is the future of technology.
Google is planning to release a kit that will allow developers to create new interactions and applications.
Microsoft Windows-10 has a stunning new feature called Continuum. What you can do with this is convert your phone into a PC, without connecting to a power source. You just need a screen, a keyboard, and two connecting chords. That’s all. And the computer runs on phone’s extended battery, phone’s processor, and everything else of the phone only. While converted into the PC, the phone remains functional, you can text and call while typing a word file. It’s the future of technology. I believe it will take over the world.
Microsoft HoloLens seamlessly blends high-definition holograms with your real world. Now, let the video do the talking.
Facebook Graph Search
The Facebook graph search allows you to search for things more naturally, not just words but phrases. Like we do on Google. All you have to do is change your language to “English-US” in the settings, and your normal search bar changes to graph search bar. Watch this video.
While some of us believe that there is no innovation at all at Apple, I believe that there is some minute amount of it happening. Apple pencil is one such innovation, for artists who have a lot of money and don’t know where to spend it, probably bored of drawing on canvasses.
This my friends, is just the tip of the iceberg. As you read this, there are plenty more innovations in technology coming our way. Watch out for them. Oh, and let me know if I missed anything major. I’m saving up, you see.
