If Steve Jobs was the greatest international celebrity in tech yesterday, then there is nobody bigger than Elon Musk today.
Nobody, who was not into conquering worlds or showbiz, could become an enduring cult superstar like Steve Jobs did in this millennial. His name is an enduring enigma equated with excellence in design and innovation, which surpassed human expectations.
Steve Jobs was the key force which brought computing out from laboratories to our desks, and then literally to our fingertips!
So, if there is one man today who challenges his legacy, making some impossible dreams happen, it’s Elon Musk. Serial entrepreneur and tech maverick, he is the man behind PayPal, Space X, Tesla, and Solar City. His aim to colonize Mars, or create Hyperloop transportation, sounds straight out of a storybook, but he is making it happen.
Much like Jobs, Musk begins to think where people’s imaginations end. Apart from both billionaires humbly drawing only $1 dollar salaries as CEOs, they are alike in more than one way.
Much alike Steve Jobs, Elon Musk is a visionary. They design future. Never dismissing the impossible, he has founded world’s first digital money, reusable rockets, electric cars and more! Jobs, on the other hand, is behind the Mackintosh, iPhone, iPad, iTunes, and what not. They dream
They dream big and work around the clock to execute it like the world is coming to an end tomorrow.
By the way, that is exactly what Elon Musk envisions, to create a self-sustaining human habitation in Mars. There is also this buzz about developing Iron Man suits for the US army and plans for a real James Bond car.
These two men are basically making/made all your science fiction dreams come true.
2. Game changers.
Sustainability is what Elon Musk never loses sight of, in an age where tech has severely compromised ecological balance; all his endeavors are designed with focus to creating a better future.
He and Steve Jobs share the wish to make technology easier for mankind, to improve their lives through better designs.
While Elon is converting entire cities to solar power, Jobs had pivoted computing from becoming impractical; changing how people communicate, buy music and movies, live; he even suggested design changes to improve hospital equipment during his stay for treatments!
3. They are not afraid of extreme risks.
The startup scene at Silicon Valley is a game of survival, and Elon Musk knows not just how to keep breathing but, survive death blows.
We are talking about a person here who invested every last penny of his million dollar personal wealth, after three failed rocket launch at Space X, for one last shot, just to keep his companies afloat. And he succeeded.
Such courage and endurance echoes Steve Jobs, who built Apple Inc up from dust. And, when he was forced out of his brainchild, he didn’t give up.
Instead, he built on his own investments another equally game-changing company, which fine tuned the art of making animated movies to perfection- Pixar.
4. Creating products that are Status Symbols.
Owning a Tesla Model 3 is like owning the new iPhone or the latest iPad today- a piece of fresh tech that mutates itself into some insane kind of cool-club badge. What better to prove their genius?
5. Also, it doesn’t hurt to have big-banner box office hits to their names!
You see, Elon Musk is Iron Man.
Did you know that? I didn’t, not many of us do. Us, the scrawny not-so-‘smart’ regulars who don’t follow the tech news radars with personal antennas, didn’t know about that. Go ahead nerds, laugh at us.
Tony Stark’s personality from the movies has been sourced directly from Elon Musk, with Robert Downey Jr spending some time with him pre production to study how a billionaire genius playboy functions, and I don’t think the character could have been any cooler! He even has a cameo role in Iron man 2, watch here.
Jobs isn’t far behind, with two posthumous biopics made on his incredible life. Michael Fassbender scored an Oscar nomination for playing him. No wonder, for even a good portrayal of him warrants applause.
We do not know what Steve jobs would have lead us to if he were alive, he was a man par excellence. But, if there is anybody who can push that legacy above and beyond, then far far far ahead, it’s Elon Musk.
And in his own words, he is just getting started.
