It is difficult to analyze the work done by NGOs and appreciating them for the achievements in terms of credits and ranking. The social work, the sweat, and tears that go unseen for the benefits of others is something which cannot be and SHOULDN’T be ranked because other factors contribute to the overall success as well.
Here we recommend few NGOs which can help you realize what good lies in society, despite the innumerable discrepancies.
DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT FOUNDATION
This NGO was founded in 2002 to bridge the digital divide and to uplift the downtrodden and the helpless. This organization strives to create economic, commercial and social viability using Information Communication and Technology.
Organization’s vision is to make the digital inclusion reach the masses by creating even opportunities. It works on various agendas like citizen journalism, digital panchayat, e-NGO, gyanpedia- a digital repository with content created by children and teachers of rural schools, community radio, internet rights and much more. The unusual idea and the endeavours of the NGO towards development in the current scenario with the viral spread of ICT haven’t gone unnoticed.
SAVE LIFE FOUNDATION
This NGO trains more than 3000 police personnel in the states of UP, Delhi, and Maharashtra for the casualty and trauma care of road accidents. It is a community-driven emergency medical response for road accident victims.
Usually, people do not indulge in these cases fearing the formalities and police issues. Hence such an organization is much needed to nurture the kindness which is killed by our legal and formal procedures.
NORTH EAST NETWORK
North East Network (NEN) is a women’s rights organization which works for women and with women irrespective of their diversity and ethnicity.
It focuses particularly on the North East region of India with specific needs of women such as gender budgetary allocations, strengthening support services for women affected by violence, and security of women in conflict through workshops, training, publications and much more.
TARSHI (Talking About Reproductive and Sexual Health Issues) works towards expanding sexual and reproductive choices in people’s lives.
It conducts training, issues publications, participates in public awareness and education initiatives in enabling people to enjoy the freedom, their dignity, space, and any reproductive or sexual health problems. What more could you ask to give happiness to others when you not only make them LIVE but Cherish it as well?
Jagori means ‘awaken, women’ and thus, this NGO believes in empowering and inspiring women in innovative ways by undertaking training, documentation, research, and campaigning in partnership with stakeholders including individual women and their partners, community members, civil society representatives, and other state/ institutional actors.
Not only that, various issues of violence, health, education, development, and other critical matters are addressed and that’s the reason this NGO thrives.
This organization enables women and men in underdeveloped areas to build on and enhance their critical thinking, creativity, activist mode and video journalism skills. And how they do this, is by enabling all the communities they work with to expose unreported stories from their communities and take action against poverty, injustice, inequality and respective matters that need VOICE.
What the NGO does is, help people raise their voice. Because sometimes, silence is cruel! It says,’ Home is where we must start to dismantle the patriarchy’.
There are organizations which take away life and comfort from you. And there exist some, who go beyond means to give you and the underprivileged the life in your comfort. So choose wisely and work wisely!
